Youth groups in Ondo North Senatorial District have called on Senator Jide Ipinsagba to provide a detailed account of the N4.5 billion allocated for constituency projects by the Federal Government.
Under the umbrella of the Ondo North Youth Alliance (ONYA), the youths are demanding transparency and accountability from the senator, who has been in office since 2023. They insist that Ipinsagba must present a comprehensive report on his stewardship to the constituents.
In a birthday message addressed to the senator Jide Ipinsagba, signed by ONYA President Ojo Bright Eniafe, Secretary Michael Olabode Feyijimi, Public Relations Officer Hon. Bakare Ibrahim Makonjuola, and Director of Special Duties Ayejuyo Temitope, the group extended their congratulations while also expressing deep concern over the state of project implementation in the district.
The youth leaders lamented the dire conditions in the region, attributing them to unfulfilled promises and inadequate execution of developmental initiatives.
“As we mark the senator Jide Ipinsagba’s birthday, it is unfortunate that instead of celebrating impactful leadership, the common man in Ondo North is left seeking accountability,” the statement read. “The failure to deliver the dividends of democracy has plunged many into further hardship. Rather than fulfilling campaign promises, elected officials seem to exploit poverty for political gain.”
The group further stated, “As youth leaders of Ondo North, we have a duty to uphold accountability. Our people have been marginalized and deprived of their rightful benefits. We, therefore, challenge the senator to explain why only N500 million out of the N4.5 billion allocated for constituency projects has been utilized. Where is the remaining N4 billion?”
Calling for a public debate, the youth group urged Senator Ipinsagba to clarify the status of various projects and disclose how funds were spent.
“The distinguished senator has been blessed immensely, and it is only right that he ensures the resources meant for his constituents are judiciously utilized. We await his response and a clear breakdown of expenditures,” the statement concluded.
