Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party Presidential Candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has emphasized the importance of expressing love through acts of service and compassion. Speaking during his visit to the Daughters of Divine Love in Emene, Enugu, as part of his Valentine’s Day activities, Obi underscored the significance of selflessness in commemorating the day.
“While I have told my family and children that I love them, the greatest love is that which is expressed through sacrifice for humanity. I believe this is the true essence of Valentine’s Day,” Obi remarked.
The visit included an inspection of the ongoing School of Nursing project, where Obi reaffirmed his commitment to supporting education and healthcare as fundamental pillars of national development. He presented a cheque for ?25 million, bringing his total contributions to the project to ?100 million over the past year.
Addressing the growing culture of materialism in the country, Obi lamented the increasing focus on personal wealth at the expense of collective well-being. He called on Nigerians to embrace the spirit of love by supporting initiatives that benefit society, particularly in health and education.
The Superior General of the Congregation, Mother Mary Anastasia Dike, expressed heartfelt gratitude for Obi’s generosity and presence, describing his visit as a genuine demonstration of the love that Valentine’s Day represents. She assured Obi of their continued prayers for his endeavors in advancing Nigeria’s development.
