
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has officially confirmed that corps members will start receiving their revised monthly allowance of ₦77,000 by the end of March 2025. The increase from the previous ₦33,000 was approved by the federal government, marking a significant boost in the financial support extended to serving graduates.
Brigadier General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu, the Director-General of NYSC, made this announcement while addressing corps members at the Wuse and Garki Zonal Offices in Abuja. He reassured them of the government’s commitment to their welfare and urged them to remain focused, disciplined, and dedicated to national service.

The pay raise, approved in line with the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024, was formally communicated by the National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission in a letter dated September 25, 2024, and signed by the commission’s chairman, Ekpo Nta.
General Nafiu lauded the NYSC’s founding vision, describing it as an initiative that fosters national unity and cultural exchange. He also reiterated the Scheme’s role in shaping corps members into patriotic, disciplined, and responsible citizens.
“With effect from March, your allowance will be ₦77,000 monthly. NYSC has a strong track record of financial integrity, and I assure you that your payments will be duly made. The nation appreciates your service,” he affirmed.

The announcement brings an end to months of anticipation following the government’s initial pledge to increase the allowance, reinforcing NYSC’s role in youth empowerment and national development.
