Former Education Minister, Oby Ezekwesili, has accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of deliberately avoiding scrutiny over sexual harassment allegations brought against him by suspended Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
Ezekwesili condemned what she described as a blatant denial of fair hearing and due process, stating that both Akpabio and the Senate have refused to allow an impartial investigation into the matter.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan had alleged that Akpabio denied her certain privileges in the Senate after she rejected his sexual advances—even in the presence of her husband.
Taking to social media, Ezekwesili questioned why Akpabio was resisting an independent Senate inquiry into the accusations, emphasizing that justice must prevail.
“This morning, I again remembered the all-time quote of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan: ‘This injustice shall not be sustained,’” Ezekwesili wrote on X.

She stressed that societies that uphold injustice suffer from economic stagnation, poverty, and inequality, urging Nigerians not to accept what she termed as a miscarriage of justice.
“Why is Senator Akpabio obstructing every opportunity for an impartial Senate inquiry into this matter? Why is he dodging the opportunity that can help him prove his innocence? Why are his colleagues in the Senate enabling this obstruction, in gross violation of the same Senate Rules they used to suspend Akpoti-Uduaghan?” she asked.
Ezekwesili insisted that the Senate cannot simply “move on” from the allegations without ensuring accountability, transparency, and due process. She reiterated her support for Akpoti-Uduaghan, declaring, “She is never walking alone on this case. Never.”
