The Federal Government has officially designated Friday, April 18, and Monday, April 21, 2025, as national public holidays in commemoration of Good Friday and Easter Monday.
Announcing the holiday declaration on Tuesday, April 15, the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, extended warm Easter greetings to Christians across the country. He encouraged all Nigerians to embrace the spirit of the season by reflecting on the enduring values of love, sacrifice, and tolerance — virtues exemplified by the life and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
In a statement issued by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Minister emphasized the importance of using the Easter holiday as an opportunity for prayerful reflection on national unity, peace, and stability.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo also reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the administration remains focused on steering the nation toward sustainable growth and inclusive development
