In a thought-provoking speech delivered at an event organized by Onward, a British think tank, Nigerian-born politician Kemi Badenoch voiced her concerns about governance failures and the importance of maintaining trust in public institutions. Badenoch, known for her forthright views, highlighted her personal experiences in Nigeria to emphasize the stakes for Britain if systemic reforms are not enacted.
Recalling her childhood in Nigeria, Badenoch reflected on the economic decline her family endured despite their hard work. “I grew up in a poor country and watched my relatively wealthy family become poorer as inflation eroded their savings. These were the consequences of terrible governance, and I don’t want Britain to experience the same.”
She stressed the need for the Conservative Party to rebuild public trust and safeguard the nation’s stability. Drawing parallels, Badenoch warned, “Without reform, the UK risks becoming like Nigeria. I know what it’s like to lose everything, and I never want Britain to lose what it has.”
Badenoch’s remarks underline her commitment to advocating for policies that prioritize accountability and resilience in governance, a message she believes is vital for Britain’s future.
