Remo Stars have etched their name in Nigerian football history after winning the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title. Under the guidance of coach Daniel Ogunmodede, the Ikenne-based club secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Niger Tornadoes at the Remo Stars Stadium on Sunday.
Olamilekan Adedayo delivered the crucial blow, finding the net just six minutes from the final whistle to clinch the club’s maiden NPFL crown.
The triumph marks a major milestone as Remo Stars become the first privately owned team to lift the NPFL trophy since Udoji United’s achievement in 1996. It also ends a two-decade wait for the South West region, last celebrated through the defunct Julius Berger FC.
With 68 points from 35 matches, Remo Stars sit comfortably ahead of second-placed Rivers United, who trail by 10 points with the same number of games played.
