Amid heightened tensions and security warnings, embattled Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan defied state government restrictions to make a triumphant return to her constituency, where she was met by a massive crowd of supporters.
The Kogi State Government had earlier banned rallies and public gatherings, citing security concerns. The police had also issued advisories urging the senator to cancel her homecoming. In response, local authorities in Okehi Local Government imposed a curfew. Despite these efforts, a determined Natasha arrived in her hometown to a rousing reception from her people.

Her return comes at a politically charged moment, following her six-month suspension from the Senate amid a clash with Senate President Godswill Akpabio, whom she accused of sexual harassment. Additionally, she is facing a recall petition allegedly spearheaded by members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Addressing her supporters, Natasha declared that no amount of intimidation could prevent her from reconnecting with her people. “Nobody and nothing can stop me from coming home. I am an Ebira woman; this is my land. I know my roots, and I am not afraid of anyone,” she asserted.

The senator also accused INEC of assisting those behind her recall petition, alleging that the electoral body had been guiding petitioners on how to “perfect their illicit acts.” Furthermore, she made a startling claim that Akpabio and former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello had plotted to assassinate her, stating that the police had been notified of the threat. Despite the political turbulence surrounding her, Natasha’s defiance has only strengthened her support base, as hundreds rallied behind her in a show of solidarity
