Seaman’s Schnapps, Nigeria’s foremost traditional prayer drink, took centre stage as the Lead Sponsor and Official Prayer Drink of the 38th Lisabi Festival, a grand cultural celebration held in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The festival paid homage to the rich heritage of the Egba people and honoured the legendary warrior, Lisabi Agbongbo Akala. It drew an illustrious crowd of royal dignitaries, local and international guests—from Brazil to Cuba and Trinidad & Tobago—reinforcing the global cultural bonds of the Yoruba diaspora.
This year’s edition featured vibrant displays of cultural expression, from the symbolic Ayo Olopon contest led by Dr. Oyegbola-Sodipo to an exquisite celebration of Egba fashion, music, cuisine, and dance. One of the festival’s spiritual highlights was the visit to the sacred Lisabi Forest, where Seaman’s Schnapps was used during solemn prayer rituals led by the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, Okukenu IV, and other traditional leaders.
At the grand finale hosted at the Ultra Modern Ake Palace Arcade, Seaman’s Schnapps representatives—including Marketing Manager Mr. Gbemileke Lawal and Activation Manager Mr. Benson Oluwafiropo—paid homage to the Alake of Egbaland and reiterated the brand’s enduring support for cultural preservation.
“We’re honoured to champion a festival that unites Egba descendants globally,” said Mr. Lawal. “Our brand represents tradition, respect, and blessings—values deeply embedded in the legacy of Lisabi Agbongbo Akala.”
Senior Brand Manager, Mrs. Nnenna Uche-Onyenacho, echoed this sentiment. “Seaman’s Schnapps is more than a brand—it’s a vessel of culture and continuity. Our involvement underscores our commitment to traditions that nurture identity and community.”
Beyond its festive splendour, the Lisabi Festival also spotlighted important social themes, including youth empowerment and food sustainability. With its continued partnership, Seaman’s Schnapps remains a steadfast advocate of cultural heritage and a proud patron of the traditions that define Egbaland’s past, present, and future.
