Afrobeats sensation Ahmed Ololade, widely known as Asake, has officially parted ways with YBNL Nation, the record label founded by Nigerian rapper Olamide.
Amid swirling speculations about his departure, Asake confirmed his exit by releasing his latest track, Why Love, under his newly established label, Giran Republic. This move marks the beginning of a new phase in his career as an independent artist.
Despite rumors of a fallout between Asake and YBNL, the singer had earlier paid tribute to Olamide in Military, his first single of the year, suggesting a cordial separation.
Asake joined YBNL in February 2022 and, just months later, signed a distribution deal with Empire in July 2022. While he has now exited YBNL, he remains affiliated with Empire for music distribution.
His departure signals a bold step toward greater creative and business independence, further solidifying his status as one of the most promising acts in the Nigerian music industry.
